The latest Kennards Self Storage Centre at Hoxton Park, in Sydney’s growing south-west, is now open. Kennards collaborated with Medich Properties to develop an innovative mixed use development. The self storage centre is part of a development that includes Bunnings and other potential retail users.
Kennards applied its self storage design expertise and knowledge to harness the complimentary attributes of its business. The development was able to benefit with 11,000 square metres of floor space with minimal additional parking required. This yielded greater returns from the same amount of property. The self storage centre is three stories high and has minimal ground floor area. The first and second floors extend over a retail area that faces the car park shared with Bunnings. The storage centre enjoys prominence and visibility to all Bunnings customers and Hoxton Park Road. The Hoxton Park Centre is Kennards 68th location and will be equipped with individual door alarms on each space; digital closed circuit TV; a retail box shop and 24 hour access. The property will be fitted out with over 800 storage spaces.
“We are extremely excited about the concept and expect to pursue other similar mixed use development for our business in the future” explains Sam Kennard, Managing Director. “It has enabled us to locate on a major arterial road in this area when we otherwise would not have been able to” he continues. The suburbs surrounding Hoxton Park are earmarked for massive residential growth to accommodate the future population expansion of Sydney in the decades ahead. The Kennards Self Storage Centre is now well positioned to offer the growing population a convenient quality storage solution. “Hoxton Park was a noticeable gap in the Sydney market for self storage supply. We have been looking for suitable sites in this area for several years but were unable to make them feasible”. Kennard says. Recently Kennards agreed a staged buy-out of Valad Property Group from the joint venture. The Kennard-Valad Joint Venture owns 38 storage properties. Kennards are now 75% majority owners.
